Big Ass Stealth Jets

March 30, 2008 by nowhere man

\'Big Ass Stealth Jets\'EARLY PRESS RELEASE Written, recorded, and produced by amp-f and rmb’s own “jweb” (aka John Weber), Lielock’s new album will be officially released this Saturday, October 27th 2001. The album (not yet titled) was conceived merely a month ago, on September 25th.

Yes, the record is inspired by the 9/11 tragedy. No, the record isn’t a wimpy collection of ballads about how we should all “just get along”.

This is an angry record filled with heavily distorted guitars blended with cynicism and some synthesizers that make you wonder if Trent Reznor actually collaborated with a small-town loser like jweb.

Looks like it will be a total of 10 songs clocking in at around 20 minutes (in the spirit of the Ramones, God bless Joey).

The new album is extremely timely and topical (recorded while jweb was watching CNN with the world freaking out over terrorism and paranoia).

This new album (as always) is free to the public. It will be available for download via mp3, and will be roughly a 20 minute long file. It’s the whole album, and I think the songs stand up to almost any of the stuff these young punks are putting out these days.

The 9/11 tragedy simply inspires people- the inspiration can sometimes bring out the best in a person, or it can also bring about depression, anxiety, and a negative approach to the world we live in.

Luckily, for a semi-depressed guy like John, he let his aggressions out via music, and happily isn’t working for the post office.

- John’s manager (certainly not John. No way).

LATEST NEWS, 11/6/01: the new album is finished! ‘BIG-ASS STEALTH JETS’ (written and recorded in a mere month) is ready to be unleashed to the public, and signifies quite a departure for the band. This one is fast and angry, folks, with not a love song to be found. Once the cover design is done (estimated date December 1st), we’ll be shipping!

Why such an angry record? Jay Web, the brainchild of Lielock explains: “Things just haven’t been the same since September 11th. People’s moods have changed, including mine. Everyone seems to have unresolved anger about what happened, and they just don’t know how to express it. Music was the best outlet I could find”.

BACKGROUND

My new CD, ‘Big-Ass Stealth Jets’, is all about 9/11 and its after-affects. Warning - it’s loud and nearly every song has electric guitars blasting through a wall of distortion. 9 songs that last a total of 17 minutes. Since the Ramones are gone, *somebody* has to carry the torch!

‘Big-Ass Stealth Jets’ was written and recorded as things happened with the 9/11 disaster.

Thousands of innocent people died, and the world looks at the TV like zombies trying to make sense of it all. When I even bother to record a song, it has to be for a reason. So what if you don’t like distorted guitars and screaming. It’s EXPRESSION, dude. It’s letting out aggression without physical violence.

If a person is “angry and hurt someway”, they need to let their aggression out somehow. This aggression could physically hurt a human being, or if directed in the right way (through expression in written word or music) it can be a positive thing.

For me, I will always look back on the making of the CD as bittersweet. I remember exactly what I was doing when I was recording those songs, and that I was watching CNN for the latest news on the whole 9/11 tragedy literally while I was writing and recording songs about it.

LINER NOTES

All songs written and recorded by John Weber between September 25th and October 26th of 2001.

This album is all about the emotional changes the world has gone through since September 11th. I know I haven’t been the same since. Don’t expect any mushy ballads on this one, though. This is the most cynical and aggressive music I’ve ever made.

1) GRIP

It sure is hard to cope these days, with all the demands, still I got too much time on my hands

There’s a war in afghanistan, and the only thing i wanna blow up is my tv, it’s insane, to see those planes, no pain no gain?

I wanna put an end to this right the fuck now

I can’t hear a song that will chill me out because my landlady took my cd player, she didn’t care, since i had no money to pay her

Got my phone disconnected, hell, there’s no bill collectors i wanted to talk to anyway, but i’ve got electricity so I can survive in this city

Got myself a gun, because you never know about some of those sick fucks that are out there

They commit the crime, but don’t do no time, they might be crazier than i am

2) SMOKE THOSE FUCKERS

It’s all about peace, it’s all about love, and bombs
I love my friends, and i love new york, and bombs

Results are in from the latest polls -
“let’s smoke those fuckers right out of their holes”

It’s all about family, it’s all about unity, and bombs
give to a charity, support your community, and bombs

Results are in from the latest polls -
“let’s smoke those fuckers right out of their holes”

3) I’M SO BORED WITH THE WAR

I like to call my television my night-light
at 3 a.m. the stars and stripes are shining bright

I can’t believe my eyes
I’ve been desensitized
I gotta turn off CNN
and tune in to the news at 10

I’m so bored with the war
by now it’s gotten tame

I’m so bored with the war
Hey, they pre-empted my football game!

I can’t believe my eyes
I’ve been desensitized
When will I get my fill
of a screen with a view to a kill

4) I’M ON TO SOMETHING

My face has gone from red to pale
There’s no way in hell I’ll open my mail
Been smoking too much, and there’s a reason
Nothing beats a joint during harvest season

Sitting here alone, i’m convinced
I live next door to a terrorist
He hasn’t left his house since the 3rd of July
But then again, neither have I

Something tells me i’m on to something
But what i’m on just makes me do nothing

5) NO REST FOR APATHY

(instrumental)

6) WAVE

I turned on the tv
and what did i see
A work of total fiction?
Oh how i prayed it would be

You didn’t hear the sound
of the buildings falling down
because humanity’s cries
drowned the noise of destruction

I won’t see your smiling face
Your smiling face any more
All i got is a flag by my front door

7) LIFT

(instrumental)

8) REWIND

Hey hey hey hey
Baby’s gone away
Baby baby baby baby just what’d i say?

It just blew my mind
I can’t hit rewind
Now happy times are so far behind

Ever since that day
Things aren’t the same any more
The “12th Of Never” is
The 11th of September

Baby baby baby where did you go?
I learned more than I want to know
Feeling so bad i’m seeing a shrink
But he won’t change the way i think

Ever since that day
Things aren’t the same any more
The “12th Of Never” is
The 11th Of September

9) BIG-ASS STEALTH JET

The food we drop
shows we care a lot
The bombs we drop
ain’t never gonna stop

PS: wait until you hear my next venture. A country-rock album? Oh yes!! I’m teaching myself how to play the dobro, and it should be interesting.

Editor (Will) - my favourite track from this album is the beautiful acoustic track, ‘No Rest For Apathy’……have a listen to this short, but emotive, instrumental.
